OFF WITH HER HEAD!

Hi Everyone,
Firstly my apologies for not posting anything for a week and a half, I was just getting over a chest infection when I got a stomach bug, and now my chest infection has returned. So it's not been the best month haha, therefore I haven't worn much makeup at all!

(like always, click to enlarge)

This was a nightmare to photograph! The day I took the pictures it was terribly overcast, so getting bright red to stand out proved quite the task :( However I think I'm happy with the way it turned out.
(And er.. please ignore the fact that I'm wearing a bathrobe over my clothes haha, I didn't think you could see it!)

I got quite a funny e-mail the other day, asking me if I only had one eye - so I thought I'd clear things up - I have 2 eyes! Generally my fringe will fall in front of it OR I just did the makeup look on one eye and covered it so it doesn't look odd. I'll be sure to involve both next time.

Products Used -
Eyes:
Ebay 120 palette - bright matte red
Sleek Graphite Palette - white + matte black
Stargazer holographic cosmetic glitter applied as a glitter eyeliner
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner (black)

Face:
Maybelline Dream Creamy Foundation
Heavy contour was a mixture of very dark brown and black shadow. - It's meant to look very harsh and dark, based on how nasty the Queen of Hearts can be at times!
I also brought this contour under the jawline.

Lips:
MAC - Lady Danger lipstick

For the hearts around the eye - I had some leftover giant heart sequins. I just stuck them around the eye area using a tiny bit of Duo lash adhesive, stippled over it using the bright red from the ebay 120 palette + a bit of black for some depth. Then peeled it off to reveal the flesh coloured hearts underneath. I then filled in 3 of the 5 hearts with the white frost shadow from the Sleek Graphite Palette

FOTD - Viva Glam Gaga + Smokey Eye + Tweet Tweet Twitter

(as always, click to enlarge)

Sorry it's a bit yellow, it's been really overcast today and I didn't have any decent lighting, resulting in me using my bedside lamp.

Products used:
Face-
Maybelline Dream Creamy Foundation (not liking this much anymore, the honeymoon period is over. I'm thinking Chanel Pro Lumiere next! It's about time I tried out a high end foundation)
No7 Bronzer (contour)
No7 baby pink blush (palette)
NYX Smokey Eye Palette – beige for highlight (I'm in desperate need of a new highlighter)

Eyes-
Sleek Graphite Palette – Matte Black
Urban Decay – YDK (to blend out black, it's a mid-tone metallic brown)
NYX Smokey Eye Palette – white for highlight + inner corner of eye
Black pencil eyeliner (waterline)
False Lashes (eBay)

Lips:
MAC – Viva Glam Gaga (over muted out lips, used foundation to do this)

I'm really liking Viva Glam Gaga, I love pinks like this with brown smokey eyes :)

On a non-makeup related note, I've just heard a song on the radio. I heard quite possibly the most hilarious song line I've ever heard (yet completely inappropriate also):
'Call me Mr Flinstone, I can make your bed rock'
The innocence of one of my childhood TV shows has now been ruined :)

Oh and before I forget I made a twitter account! twitter.com/ladydangerrach. Lady Danger was taken :(

MAC Lipstick Mini Haul - Pinks

Hi Everyone,
This morning my MAC box arrived, yay! I went on a bit of a pink lipstick kick. After opening everything my room smells of that lovely MAC vanilla scent.
Here's what I ordered:

(left to right)Impassioned, Pink Nouveau, Viva Glam Gaga

(left to right)Impassioned, Pink Nouveau, Viva Glam Gaga

Observant people may notice that there are 4 boxes in the background. That's because I did order 4 lipsticks, one of them being Girl About Town. Sadly it's about to begin its journey back to MAC as I'm returning it :(
I expected a bright bright pink but next to my skin tone it looks a deeper plummy pink to me *tear*.
I think once my money is refunded I'm going to do what I was originally, and order Show Orchid from MAC Pro. If you're NC15-ish and own Show Orchid, how bright does it look for you?

All the lipsticks I got are beautiful, but I love Impassioned. I can't believe I waited so long to get it! Its a perfect warm pink, its ridiculously bright too. If you're a fan of bold lipsticks, definitely give this one a go.

Pink Nouveau is a gorgeous deeper bubblegum pink and it's been on my list forever.

Viva Glam Gaga I was surprised by, I've heard a lot of things about it being unwearable but I find it very wearable. 1 swipe gives a glossy sheen and transparent light pink. Built up I think it's gorgeous :)

I've heard a lot of things about it being similar to Saint Germain, so I thought I'd do a comparison:

(l to r) Saint Germain, Viva Glam Gaga
Personally, I do not think these are similar at all other than the fact that they're both pale pinks. Saint Germain is a lot more purple toned and not as pale as Viva Glam Gaga, whereas Viva Glam Gaga is a warmer bubblegum pink, though I don't find it as bright as Saint Germain. I think Gaga is a lot more wearable.

If anyone has noticed I had a little play around with my blog too, and I think I'm happy with it for now. I made a new header that isn't as busy and added a search bar too :)

Adios, Girl About Town! It just wasn't meant to be :(

Lady Gaga - Telephone Makeup

This is based on the makeup Lady Gaga wore during the prison scenes of her new video for Telephone. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! So I thought I'd give it a go. Naturally, this was just for fun and I wouldn't actually wear this out... well, I do like the eye makeup... I think it would look good with bright pink lipstick for a night out. But that's just me ;)

One thing that I purposely changed was the brow - Gaga's wings out and flicks up at the end but I personally don't like this on myself.

WIth a lot of her looks I have noticed that she always cuts her crease very high in the inner corner, blended up to the brow, with very winged out eyeliner. I've seen her do this with neutral brown, black and blue shadow to give her that big doe-eyed look.

After watching the video I sat there for 20 minutes trying to get good screen caps of her makeup, haha, so I thought I'd show you the reference pictures I used:

Products Used:
Face -
Maybelline Dream Creamy foundation + MAC 109 brush.
No7 contour powder (from palette)

Eyes -
L'oreal Super Liner - Carbon Gloss
2 pairs of eBay false lashes (heavy!)
Ebay 120 Palete - dark brown
Barry M dazzle dust - the white one! sorry the number has rubbed off
Sleek palette - black and white
120 eBay palette - dark brown
NYX jumbo eye pencil - milk

Lips -
L'oreal black khol eyeliner
Bourjois Lovely Rouge lipstick - 15 Rouge Best (I think these have been discontinued, its just a deeper red lipstick).

I don't particularly like red lipstick this dark on me, especially with the fabulous black liner ;) It feels very gothic with skin as pale as mine is. It was the eye makeup that did it for me with this look.

NOTD - China Glaze Atlantis + Rimmel Black Out

It's been 1 week since I cut off my nails in an attempt to grow them back more successfully and it's going pretty well so far. I prefer my nails to be square, but square nails apparently don't like me. I've recently been very good at chipping the corners completely off. To try and avoid this I've rounded the corners a lot more when filing them and it seems to have solved the problem (and using nail strengthener like it's going out of fashion).

I adore China Glaze Atlantis in the bottle, but I don't like how the green base looks on my nails as it really brings out the pink in my skin. Plus I prefer darker polish colours whilst my nails are this short.

Photobucket

This is 2 coats of Rimmel 60 Seconds in Black Out with just 1 coat of China Glaze's Atlantis. This is just personal preference as I don't like the look of really dense silver glitter over black, I prefer it to be slightly more sparse.
The ratio of silver to holographic glitter is really off in these photos, the camera picks up the holographic glitter more, when in fact there's not a lot of it when compared to the silver.

Photobucket
Blurry one in an attempt to show just how glittery it is. It's like mini disco balls at the ends of my fingertips in real life :)

Check out Scrangie's post of China Glaze Atlantis for a more realistic look at what the polish looks like without a black base. I'd say the colour is slightly off as it's a lot more green in real life, at least mine is. (Scrangie's blog is basically my nail polish encyclopedia).

20 Questions

Hi Everyone,
Sorry about the lack of updates, this week has been a nightmare in the internet department. We've had to ring our provider 3 times over the past few days to try and fix the problem. It was only staying connected for a few minutes, if it connected at all so I've had a few days without any internet access at all. Irritating!
I should have some new looks posted before the end of the week though.

I don't think I'm going to be purchasing the Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Book of Shadows. I checked it out in Debenhams and I already have most of the colours/ dupes for them. I might have a look again and see if I change my mind before they sell out. But more than likely I'll go on a major MAC lipstick haul as there's quite a few I've been saving up for.

I went to see the film on Tuesday (Alice In Wonderland) and I LOVED it. As with anything Tim Burton produces/writes/directs :)

Anyway, on to the questions! I've seen this on loads of blogs and wanted to give it a go myself.

1. What can't you leave the house without?
It really depends on where I'm going... but usually my phone, the lipstick I'm wearing, purse and house key.

2. Favourite make-up brand?
MAC for lipsticks, but Urban Decay for eyeshadows.

3. Favourite flower?
Orchids! Never lillies, I'm dreadfully allergic to them.

4. Favourite clothing store?
Miss Selfridge

I wish we had Forever 21 here.

5. Favourite perfume?
Hugo Boss Orange. Though I'm trying to use up my Vera Wang - Princess, it's not very 'me' but I don't want it to go to waste as it was a Christmas present.

6. Heels or flats?
Daywear, flats. Going out - heels, always.

7. Did you make good grades?
Generally Bs.

8. Favourite colours?
Pink.

9. Do you drink energy drinks?
The classiest fact ever to grace my blog:
Red Bull - but ONLY if I'm drinking a Jager Bomb. Me and my friends always end up with one whenever we go out.

Very classy, I know ;)

10. Do you drink juice?
Every day! Either fresh orange, fresh pineapple or apple cordial.

11. Do you like swimming?
Yes, but I don't do it very often.

12. Do you eat fries with a fork?
Haha yes, I'm really weird I'll eat pizza with a knife and fork too.

13. Favourite moisturiser?
Nivea sensetive body lotion and Clean & Clear dual action moisturiser.

14. Do you want to get married?
I aim to be a crazy cat lady ;)

15. Do you get mad easily?
Nope.

16. Are you into ghost hunting?
No! Anything like that scares me haha.

17. Any phobias?
Ok... I'm scared of most insects, especially those that fly - yes, even butterflies.
I used to be terribly scared of dogs but I'm getting better with that.

18. Do you bite your nails?
Never! I don't think I could.

19. Have you ever had a near death experience?
Nope.

20. Do you drink coffee?
No, strictly a green tea girl. I hate regular british tea with milk, yuk D;
Photobucket

Twinings Orange + Lotus flower flavour is my favourite, though I also drink plain old regular grean tea. Their citrus flavour one is good too.

Brainwashed By MAC - Peach

Just a quick one!

Today I was looking at the MAC Spring Colour Forecast Collection, and was only really drawn in by colour 2 - coral.
Ripe Peach blush and Ember Glow Lipglass really stood out to me, both being really gorgeous peachy coral shades.
Ever since I've had peach on the brain regarding makeup - nail varnish, lipstick, eyeshadow.
So of course when I applied my makeup today it definitely influenced me, going for bright eyes. It seemed to warm things up with the weather being so icy cold!

There appears to be one tiny speck of glitter in my brow in this picture which is quite confusing as I definitely didn't use anything glittery!

I just used the 120 eBay palette for this, mainly the orange-y peach shades and yellow to blend out. Sleek palette white for highlight + inner corner of eye.

I would have done a full face look but honestly, I only did a spot of shopping today which somehow in my mind = let's be a bit lazy and not bother doing anything too fancy. I opted for just concealer on any blemishes and lip balm.

On a side note, I don't know if it's my imagination but to me the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer really smells like apricots! Has anyone else noticed this?
